7 days of mindfulness is a campaign to raise awareness of the different situations you can incorporate mindfulness into everyday life. Check back every day to see a range of activities you can be mindful in. Day 2 was exercise.
Today's activity is cooking. Cooking, for some of us, can be a dreaded task which forces us to cook easy and quick meals. But those types of meals tend to lack the nutrition our bodies need. By incorporating mindfulness into your cooking and actively thinking about the types of foods you are putting into your body, you will start to see the mental and physical benefits of cooking fresh and healthy meals. After all, we are what we eat.
There are great sounds and smells that come from cooking can induce a relaxed state such as the smell of fresh fruit and vegetables, the sizzling sound of food cooking in a pan and the process of preparing your food. Make sure you soak in all of these sensations by purposefully smelling and touching the foods you are preparing and cooking.
Mindfulness has been proven to help weight control when included in exercising and eating. Check back tomorrow for more tips on how to be mindful in everyday life.
Do you practice mindfulness whilst cooking? Do you feel that it helps you in having a healthy balanced diet?
